Holistic care questions, answered.
Arrive wearing comfortable, relaxed clothes — trousers should be able to roll up towards your knees. Come ready to discuss only what you feel comfortable sharing about your health and wellbeing.
Reflexology is usually performed with the client lying down, legs elevated. If this isn't comfortable for you, just let Kim know and she'll work around your needs.
There are many types of reflexology, ranging from a "nice" foot rub often offered in hotels and spas, up to clinical reflexology practised by qualified professionals who have studied therapeutic techniques. Ahead of booking anywhere, check whether the practitioner is qualified in reflexology, or simply offering a foot massage.
Duopody reflexology is a form of clinical reflexology studied intensively over a two-year period — "Duo" meaning two, "pody" meaning feet. It's a unique technique in which both feet are treated at the same time: each system in the body is treated as a direct anatomical reflection via the feet, and each foot can also represent pairs in life, such as past or present, or the male/female side.
Because of the study required, practitioners tend to be few — but committed to the therapy.
To be clear, there are no studies that show reflexology as a "curative" treatment.
However, reflexology has been shown to support the general health and side effects of terminal and chronic illnesses. It's time focused entirely on you and your holistic wellness — offered as an adjunctive (add-on) therapy to patients undergoing treatment for terminal conditions.
In your first session, Kim will spend time taking your personal details, health concerns and expectations for treatment, and answer any questions you may have. Any information you share is held in strictest confidence, and used only for the purpose of your treatment.
"A person's health can be judged by which they take two at a time — pills or stairs." — Joan Welsh
